Julia Curran is an Associate Clinical Social Worker who takes a collaborative, insight-based approach to therapy. She offers support with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, chronic illness, life transitions, traumatic experiences, creative blocks, burnout, improving relationships, and contemporary existential crises. Julia provides a space for empowerment and meaningful change through person-centered, strengths-based, and neuroscience-focused modalities. Her experience as an artist and arts educator gives her appreciation for the complexity of life and the power of vulnerability. She is bilingual in English and French and offers sessions in both languages.
Empowerment
Julia's approach focuses on collaboration, insight, and empowerment. She partners with clients to help bring awareness to patterns, values, and beliefs that may be holding someone back. Through this insight, clients feel empowered to make impactful life changes. Julia draws on mindfulness-based CBT, interpersonal neurobiology, emotionally focused, and psychodynamic therapies.
Resiliency Through Connection
Julia’s goal is to help you lower your stress threshold, honor pain, find meaning, and build resiliency. She believes integrating emotional work into self-care is an important way to not only care for ourselves, but also for our loved ones and the greater collective. In a world that can feel increasingly isolating and hard, she hopes to help you make space for connection and softness. Julia believes we all possess inherent wisdom, creativity, and strengths, and that we need each other to survive.
Creative Experience
In addition to being a therapist, Julia is a practicing visual artist. Because of her background as an artist and arts educator she enjoys working with other artist, writers, designers, and actors to help them navigate the unique benefits and challenges of a creative path. Outside of work Julia enjoys being outdoors, dancing, travel, and spending time with family and friends. Taking moments for renewal helps Julia be truly present with clients when meeting.
